We first “met” this cheese on a foggy summer morning at the dairy where it is made. We decided it would always be in our refrigerator but soon found that we could only get it at the plant. So, we opened our on-line store so that the rest of the country could enjoy delicious Montforte Blue.
This is one of the hundred of cheeses from Wisconsin that have won the World Championship. That is correct, Montforte Blue was voted the best blue cheese in the World!
It is mild and very creamy. Don’t just use it on a salad – melt it on a steak or burger. And, by all means, add it to a cheese course, the sweet tang of a mild blue will complete your cheese array. It is excellent with Champagne.
